Blue Hawk Records signed Antonio Gonzalez in September 2017, after working with him as an artist for over a year. Two of his originals, "Such Sad Eyes" and "Can't Hold Us Down", are featured on past compilations of ours. Merely a sophomore, Antonio's professionalism, charisma, and musicianship impressed us enough to officially sign him to the label. Antonio is currently recording his debut EP with Blue Hawk Studio, with an expected release before the Summer of 2018. Now, some words from Antonio himself!
"I started becoming serious about music in my Sophomore year of high school, when I joined the chorus. From there, I started taking guitar and voice lessons, then began performing around town. Since coming to Monmouth and working with the folks at Blue Hawk Records, I feel like there's nowhere to go from here but up. I write music I feel everyone can enjoy. I try not to box myself into one genre or another because I want to have the freedom to write what I want. I also try to stay away from lyrics that don't have much meaning. To me, the words have to tell a story or send a message.
I have a lot of musicians I look up to and try to emulate: Hozier, Kaleo, Michael Jackson, and Maroon 5, just to name a few. I really knew I wanted to be a musician when I saw my first concert. 20,000 people in a stadium, all because one band had such significance to them. I wanted to make something that appealed to even one person that way, and I knew it had to be music."
